What a Florida Placard Costs
What Florida charges for a disabled parking permit, what a medical certification costs, and where the money actually goes.

Paid to your county tax collector when you hand in the form. Florida does not charge for a permanent permit at all, which surprises most people.
The Medical Certification
This is the part that costs money, and it is not set by the state. Your own doctor may complete it as part of a visit, in which case your usual copay applies. If they will not, or cannot see you soon enough, a telehealth evaluation is the alternative.

What Nobody Charges You For
- The form. HSMV 83039 is published free by the state. Anybody selling you the form is selling you nothing.
- Renewal of a permanent permit. Free again, though a new certification is required.
- A replacement, in most counties, if your permit is current.
Be careful of "approved or your money back". A service that refunds only when a doctor says no is paying that doctor to say yes, and your county knows it. Ask instead whether the doctor is paid the same either way.
